I consult with each student over the telephone, Skype, Whataspp, and in-person meetings (where possible). I understand that each student has different strengths, and I work with them accordingly. Students manage their deadlines and times; I am available any time they need to consult with me. I will read and edit an unlimited number of drafts, until we are satisfied that we have the strongest possible essay.
I do not outsource any of my work. I do not take on a large number of students, as I believe it takes in-depth attention to equip the student with the skills to deliver a compelling essay.
I edit college essays for institutions in the United States and in Canada—I lived for almost 10 years in Canada, and I know the system well. I do not consult for admissions for the UK.
I offer the 3 service packages listed below, but I'm very flexible. The student and the writing drive the service.
PAckage 1: UC Applications
I work with the student to understand the culture of UC, who is reading the essay, and what the admissions committee is looking for in a student. Together, we understand the prompts, brainstorm to generate ideas, and choose 4 prompts. The student will then write drafts for which I'll provide detailed feedback. There is no limit on the number of drafts or revisions that I will read--we will work together to produce the strongest, most compelling essays possible. I will proof-read all the material before the final submission.
Package 2: Common app
I work with the student to understand who is reading the essay, and what institutions of higher education are looking for in a student. Together, we arrive at an essay idea that will work for ALL the universities the applicant is applying to via the Common Application. Some issues and themes will speak more to certain institutions than others, and hence, the subject of the essay is of crucial importance.
Together, we understand the Common App prompts, brainstorm to generate ideas, and choose 1 or 2 prompts. The student will then write drafts for which I'll provide detailed feedback. There is no limit on the number of drafts or revisions that I will read--we will work together to produce the strongest, most compelling essay. I will proof-read all the material before the final submission.
The supplemental questions are very important, as the answers must provide evidence of the applicant's interest in the institution, and demonstrate that the student will be a good fit with that particular institution's ethos.
This package includes the Common App main essay, and, the supplements for any one university of your choice. Most students choose their Early Decision school for this package.
the complete package: UCs, common app + any others
This package includes the services offered for both the Common App as well as UC, plus essays for any other institutions (such as MIT, UT Austin, Rutgers etc.) that require individual applications for their portals. This package works best if you are considering a wide pool of colleges. Again, there is no limit on the number of drafts or revisions that I will read--we will work together to produce the strongest, most compelling essays. I will proof-read all the material before the final submission.

PRO BONO WORK
Every admissions cycle, I work with a few students for free. If you cannot afford to pay for college counseling, or know of someone from disadvantaged circumstances who could use essay help, please get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org
WHAT ABOUT COLLEGE COUNSELING SERVICES?
I do not offer general admission counseling services. The students I work with usually know what they’d like to major in, and which colleges they want to attend. They often have great school counselors who take them through these steps early in the application process. Sometimes they have older siblings who’ve already gone through college admissions. Sometimes they are avid researchers who prefer to make their choices based on the information and knowledge they’ve personally collected. My students choose to invest in an essay coach as they understand the importance of essays in their application, and realize they need specialized help in this particular area.
I do, however, offer a lot of informal counseling. Essay writing does not happen in a vacuum—it reflects the student’s choices. Hence I’m happy to answer college admission questions about non-essay matters with the aim of helping my students clarify their goals and approach.
